We offer areca leaf plates and bowls made in Alawwa, Kurunegala District, Sri Lanka, from naturally fallen areca palm leaves. No trees are cut to make them. The plates are a plastic free, compostable replacement for plastic, foam and coated paper plates.
How they are made: mature fallen leaves are collected, cleaned, washed and dried. The leaves are then heat pressed into plates and bowls with no plastic lining, glue or chemical coating. Each piece is trimmed, inspected and sorted by size, shape and appearance before hygienic packing.
Product range: round plates in several sizes, square plates, oval plates and round bowls. Custom sizes and shapes can be produced to order. Standard pack: 25 pieces per pack. Shelf life: 2 years when stored in a cool, dry place.
Why buyers choose areca leaf tableware: it is biodegradable and compostable, light but strong, holds hot and cold food, and each piece has a natural wood grain look that suits premium catering and eco friendly brands.
Uses: food serving at restaurants, hotels, hospitals, catering services, weddings, parties, events, food stalls, households and sustainable food service businesses. Suitable for wholesalers, importers, distributors, hotels and retail shops.
